Suno v6, v6-wild and v6-mini are the three models in Suno's v6 generation. v6 is the flagship for when you know what you want, v6-wild is built to surprise you, and v6-mini is the faster, lighter model that free accounts can use. On Suno, v6 and v6-wild need a Pro or Premier plan. We ran the same two prompts on all three and put a short note under each clip that describes how it sounds.

What is the difference between Suno v6, v6-wild and v6-mini?
Suno describes each model by the kind of job it suits. All three come from the same v6 generation and support up to 8 minutes per generation, according to Suno's help center.
| v6 | v6-wild | v6-mini | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How Suno describes it | Flagship; reliable, precise, polished across genres | Built for exploration; less predictable and more varied | Lighter, faster version of v6 |
| Suno's suggested use | "When you know what you want"; recommended for most songs | New ideas to riff on or bring back into v6 for refinement | Quick ideas, high-volume generation, exploring concepts |
| Suno plans | Pro and Premier | Pro and Premier | All plans, including Free |
On Suno, each run returns 2 songs and costs 10 credits, according to its v6 FAQ.
How do I switch between v6 models on Suno?
- Go to suno.com/create
- Open the model picker in the top-right corner of the Create form
- Choose v6, v6-wild or v6-mini
- Create as normal; the model stays selected until you change it
Those steps come from Suno's How do I change models? page. Which models you see depends on your plan. Suno's pricing page lists v6-mini for the Free plan and v6 plus v6-wild for Pro and Premier. According to Suno's plan overview, Free gets 50 credits that replenish daily, Pro gets 2,500 credits a month and Premier 10,000. Songs made on the Free plan are for personal, non-commercial use only. Suno says paid plans start at $10 per month, with a discount for annual billing. Songs downloaded while you're subscribed get commercial use rights, and subscribing later doesn't add those rights to songs you made on the Free plan. Suno also retired every model older than v6.
What happened when we gave all three the same prompt?
On October 26, 2026 we ran two prompts once on each model through RaoMusic, which runs the three v6 models alongside other engines. Each run returned 2 songs, and the first song of each run is below. The short listening note under each clip describes what that file sounds like; press play to judge for yourself. One run per model can't show how a model behaves on average, so treat these as examples.
Test 1: your own lyrics and a specific rock style
Custom mode, male vocal, and the style "90s alternative rock, gritty male vocal, crunchy distorted guitars, live drums, driving bass, 120 BPM", with these original lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Parking lot lights and a radio hum
Counting the cars till the morning comes
You said the city would wait for us
Now it's just me and the last night bus[Chorus]
Turn it up, turn it up, let the static ring
Every word we never said is the song I sing
Hold on, hold on to the summer's end
We were louder than the night back then[Verse 2]
Paper cups and a borrowed guitar
Spelling your name in the dust on my car
The streetlight flickers like it knows
Every road that we took and the one we chose[Chorus]
(repeat)[Outro]
Louder than the night back then
v6
Listening note: it follows the lyrics and tempo cleanly but leans toward polished modern indie-pop, with synth sequencing and processed vocals instead of live drums and real guitar crunch. If you need an authentic 90s rock sound, regenerate or try v6-wild; as it is, it works as a background bed for social content.
v6-wild
Listening note: it captures the requested 90s alt-rock energy, with crunchy guitars, driving bass and the full lyric structure at tempo. The drums sound programmed and the gritty vocal has audible phase smearing, so it suits background music in a video or game better than a standalone release.
v6-mini
Listening note: it delivers the lyrics, tempo and rock structure, but the vocal comes out fairly clean rather than gritty and the mix has a digital sheen. Use it as a demo to check whether the song works before you spend more on another model.
Test 2: a one-line vibe in Simple mode
Simple mode with only the description "Make a song that feels like midnight on a rooftop" (an example prompt Suno uses for v6). The lyrics were written automatically.
v6
Listening note: a moody downtempo ballad with hushed vocals and sparse beats that fits the late-night rooftop idea. It has no real city ambience and noticeable phasey artifacts in the upper vocal range, so keep it low under dialogue in a film transition or a night vlog.
v6-wild
Listening note: an intimate downtempo indie-pop groove that nails the quiet mood, though the lyrics are distractingly literal, the mix lacks outdoor depth and the vocal has a subtle synthetic sheen. Fine as-is for a late-night vlog or a mood reel.
v6-mini
Listening note: a downtempo bedroom-pop ballad with warm electric piano and an intimate vocal that matches the mood. The vocal sounds smeared and the mix is muddy, so use it as background in a vlog or montage; it won't hold up as a polished standalone release.
Length and generation time
| Model | Test 1 song lengths | Test 2 song lengths | Test 2 time to finish |
|---|---|---|---|
| v6 | 2:26 and 2:47 | 3:48 and 3:58 | about 80 s |
| v6-wild | 1:55 and 2:33 | 3:24 and 3:15 | about 42 s |
| v6-mini | 2:03 and 2:05 | 3:24 and 3:27 | about 36 s |
We timed the test 2 runs by checking their status every 5 seconds from the moment we started them. In test 1 our first check came later: v6 finished at about 50 seconds, while v6-wild and v6-mini were already done when we first looked, 38 and 32 seconds after they started, so those two times are upper limits rather than exact measurements.
Which Suno v6 model should you use?
- You have finished lyrics and know the sound you want: start with v6, the model Suno recommends for most songs and for precise results. If it smooths your genre into something generic, as it did with our rock brief, run the same prompt on v6-wild before you rewrite the prompt.
- You want ideas, textures or a different take: use v6-wild. Suno positions it as the model for unexpected results that you can bring back into v6 to refine.
- You're testing many ideas or you're on Suno's Free plan: use v6-mini. It finished first in our timed Simple-mode test and costs the least on RaoMusic, so it suits drafts and checking whether a song idea works.
- You need the song for commercial use: on Suno, the model doesn't decide this; your plan does. Only songs downloaded while you're on Pro or Premier get commercial use rights. On RaoMusic, music from every model includes royalty-free commercial usage rights, including on the free plan.
