To make a country song with AI, write a short lyric that tells one story with concrete details and a title line that repeats in the chorus, then describe a country sub-genre and its instruments (pedal steel, fiddle, banjo, Telecaster) as the style. On RaoMusic, paste both in Custom mode and generate. A RaoMusic run on Suno v6 needs a subscription and costs 30 credits for two full songs. Below, one lyric is sung as honky-tonk, country pop and bluegrass.

How did we make the clips in this guide?

Every clip was made on RaoMusic on November 1, 2026, with Suno v6 and one run per setting. Three runs used Custom mode with the same lyrics, Vocal Gender set to Male and a different style description in Styles for each sub-genre. One run used Simple mode with only the words country song. The four runs gave eight clips. The short listening note under a clip describes what that file sounds like; press play to judge for yourself. The full lyrics and settings are at the end.

Step 1: How do I write country lyrics an AI can sing?

Pick one small story and tell it with things you could take a photo of: a truck, a feed store, a screen door, a porch light. Then give each section one job. Mark the sections with tags such as [Verse 1], [Chorus] and [Bridge] to keep the lyric organized; our guide to turning your own lyrics into a song covers the formatting in more detail.

SectionIts jobLine from our test song
Verse 1Set the scene and the problemDaddy's red Ford's still parked behind the feed store
ChorusSay the title, then the feelingSo here's my gravel road goodbye
Verse 2Move time forward with a new detailYour mama mails me pictures every Christmas
BridgeAdd a twist before the last chorusCounty Road 9 still runs the way it ran before
OutroEcho the last chorus lineStill burning, you're still gone

Keep each line short enough to sing in one breath, and repeat the chorus word for word each time so it sounds like a hook. If you would rather start from a draft, type a theme such as a small-town goodbye into the AI lyrics generator, pick Country as the genre and edit the lyric it writes.

Step 2: Which country sub-genre should I describe?

Write the sub-genre first, then the instruments you want to hear, the voice and a tempo. These are the three style descriptions used in this guide, and the exact text of each is in the settings table at the end:

Sub-genreInstruments we namedVoiceTempo
Classic honky-tonkTwangy Telecaster, crying pedal steel, honky-tonk piano, shuffle drums, upright bassWarm male baritone100 BPM
Modern country popBright acoustic strum, banjo accents, punchy drums, electric guitarMale vocal, big chorus with harmonies116 BPM
BluegrassFast banjo rolls, fiddle, mandolin, flatpicked acoustic guitar, upright bass, no drumsHigh lonesome harmony vocals130 BPM

Join the parts of a row into one comma-separated description and paste it into Styles. For a sub-genre not in the table, the AI country music generator page lists ready-made country prompts you can paste, such as traditional outlaw country, raw storytelling vocals, melancholy pedal steel, acoustic guitar, 75 BPM for slow outlaw country.

Step 3: How do I generate the song in Custom mode?

The steps below use RaoMusic, where the lyrics and the style description go in separate boxes.

  1. Open Create and switch to the Custom tab.
  2. In the model menu, choose Suno v6. On RaoMusic it needs a subscription; Suno v6 Wild and Suno v6 Mini don't. Our Suno v6, Wild and Mini comparison plays the versions side by side.
  3. Paste your lyrics, with their section tags, into Lyrics.
  4. Paste your sub-genre line into Styles.
  5. Open Advanced and set Vocal Gender to Male or Female if the story needs a particular voice. Left unset, it is random.
  6. Click Generate.
RaoMusic Create page on the Custom tab with Suno v6 selected, country lyrics in the Lyrics box and a honky-tonk description in the Styles box
Custom tab with Suno v6, the test lyrics in Lyrics and the honky-tonk line in Styles.

What does the same song sound like in three sub-genres?

All six takes below sing the same lyrics with Vocal Gender set to Male. Only the style description changes.

Classic honky-tonk · Suno v6 · Custom mode

Take 1

Take 2

Listening note: Both takes are honky-tonk shuffles with crying pedal steel, honky-tonk piano and a warm baritone, and both suit a bar or roadhouse scene. In both, the Telecaster twang sits far back in the mix. If you want that guitar out front, generate again and ask for it directly, for example with a Telecaster solo or lead guitar near the start of the style description.

Modern country pop · Suno v6 · Custom mode

Take 1

Take 2

Listening note: Both takes have bright acoustic strumming, banjo riffs, punchy drums and a big harmonized chorus, so either works as a rough demo or as background for a short video.

Bluegrass · Suno v6 · Custom mode

Take 1

Take 2

Listening note: Both takes have banjo rolls, fiddle and upright bass with no drums, as the style description asked. The singing is polished modern country, and the raw high lonesome harmony in the style description did not come through. Use them for an upbeat country-folk video; for an older mountain sound, generate again and describe the voice in more detail.

What does the prompt "country song" give you on its own?

These takes came from Simple mode with the Song Description country song and nothing else, so RaoMusic wrote the lyrics too.

"country song" · Suno v6 · Simple mode

Take 1

Take 2

Listening note: Both takes are mid-tempo acoustic country ballads with a male vocal, and the AI wrote its own story about a couple building a home around a kitchen table. That works as quick background music. If the song should be about your own people and places, write the lyrics yourself and use Custom mode as in Step 3.

Can I use an AI country song on YouTube?

Songs made on RaoMusic come with royalty-free commercial usage rights on every plan, including the free plan, under the RaoMusic commercial license. The license page lists where you can use and monetize them, including YouTube. Subscribers can also download a license certificate PDF for each track.

Lyrics for the three Custom runs (title: Gravel Road Goodbye):

[Verse 1]

Daddy's red Ford's still parked behind the feed store

Rust on the tailgate where we sat in '09

You said this town was too small for your big dreams

I said I'd follow, but I never crossed the county line

[Chorus]

So here's my gravel road goodbye

Dust in the mirror, one more Friday night

You took the highway, I kept the porch light on

Twelve years later it's still burning, you're still gone

[Verse 2]

Your mama mails me pictures every Christmas

Nashville neon and a band behind your name

I fixed the screen door that you slammed the night you left me

It doesn't squeak now, but it never sounds the same

[Chorus]

So here's my gravel road goodbye

Dust in the mirror, one more Friday night

You took the highway, I kept the porch light on

Twelve years later it's still burning, you're still gone

[Bridge]

If you ever miss the sound of that old screen door

County Road 9 still runs the way it ran before

[Chorus]

So here's my gravel road goodbye

Dust in the mirror, one more Friday night

You took the highway, I kept the porch light on

Twelve years later it's still burning, you're still gone

[Outro]

Still burning, you're still gone

Frequently Asked Questions

No. The Suno engine rejects prompts that name an artist, with a message that it doesn't reference specific artists, and failed generations are refunded on RaoMusic. Describe the sound instead: the instruments, the kind of voice and the era.

In Custom mode with a Suno v6 version, open Advanced and set Duration to Custom for a target length from 10 to 360 seconds. The song may end early if your lyrics are short.

Use Extend on the finished song. It continues the song from the point you choose and gives you two new versions, and it works on the free plan.

Subscribers can save a finished song's vocals and style as a Persona from the song's menu, then apply it to new songs in Custom mode for a more consistent voice.
