To make a Thanksgiving song with AI, list who will be at the table and one detail for each person (a dish, a habit, a story), choose a singalong or a thank-you song, then either write short lyrics or describe the story and let the generator write them. Play it once before dinner to check every name is sung. On RaoMusic, a Suno v6 Wild run costs 30 credits for two takes, with no subscription needed.

What are the basic steps?
Here are the steps in order; button names and prices differ between tools.
- Collect the details: the names at the table and one small story for each (next section).
- Pick the kind of song: a singalong for everyone, a thank-you song for one person, or quiet background music for the meal.
- Write lyrics or a description. Use the lyrics box to supply the exact names and lines you want sung, then check the result for anything missed; use the song description box when you want the tool to write the words.
- Describe the sound in the style box: genre, tempo, instruments and the kind of voice.
- Generate and check that every name is sung clearly, then generate again if one is missing or garbled.
What should a Thanksgiving song include?
- Names spelled the way you say them. If a name is often misread, spell it out phonetically in the lyrics; our birthday song guide shows a before-and-after test with "Siobhan".
- One food detail that belongs to your family: the pie nobody may touch, Grandpa's stuffing recipe, the rolls that always burn.
- A running joke or story, such as the uncle whose fish gets bigger every year.
- Who traveled: a flight, a long drive in the snow, a late arrival.
- Someone who is missing, if that fits your family this year. One line is enough, like the empty chair in the bridge of our example.
Which kind of Thanksgiving song should I make?
Choose one of these three formats based on how you will use the song.
| Song | Feel | Style words | Setup on RaoMusic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Family singalong | Upbeat, everyone joins the chorus | warm acoustic folk singalong, acoustic guitar, group vocals on the chorus | Suno v6 Wild, Custom mode, your own lyrics (30 credits, 2 takes) |
| Thank-you song for one person | Slow and warm | gentle country ballad, warm female vocal, pedal steel | Suno v6 Wild, Simple mode, description only (30 credits, 2 takes) |
| Dinner background | Quiet, no vocals | relaxed acoustic jazz trio, nylon guitar, brushed drums, upright bass | Google Lyria 3.5, Simple mode (20 credits, 1 track) |
How do I write a singalong the whole family can join?
- Keep the chorus short and identical every time. Four lines that repeat word for word are easy to learn by the second round.
- Put one person in each line of the verses. "Grandma June is at the oven door" lands better than a list of five names in one breath.
- Label the sections with tags in square brackets, such as [Verse 1], [Chorus] and [Bridge], to make the song's structure clear to the generator.
- Ask for group vocals on the chorus in the style line, so the chorus already sounds like a room singing.
Our full singalong lyrics are at the end of this guide. If you want a draft to edit first, the AI lyrics generator can write one from your notes; then swap in your family's names.
How do I set up the singalong on RaoMusic?
- Open Create and switch to Custom.
- In the model menu, choose Suno v6 Wild (no subscription needed).
- Paste your lyrics into Lyrics, with the section tags.
- Type the sound into Styles: genre, instruments, lead voice, group vocals on the chorus, tempo.
- Leave Duration on Auto under Advanced so the length follows your lyrics, then press Generate.

What does the family singalong sound like?
Listen for the five names (June, Ray, Priya, Mateo and the dog, Boots) in both takes; take 1 also sings the bridge about the empty chair.
Family singalong · Suno v6 Wild · Custom mode · Duration Auto
Take 1 (2:15)
Take 2 (2:02)
Listening note: Both takes sing every name clearly over acoustic guitar with group vocals on the chorus, and take 1 also sings the empty-chair bridge. Either take works as is for playing at the table or under a family photo video.
Can I just describe the story instead of writing lyrics?
Yes. Switch to Simple mode and type the story into Song Description; the generator writes the lyrics. This was the description for a thank-you song to Mom, run on Suno v6 Wild:
A gentle country ballad thanking Mom on Thanksgiving: she drove four hours in the snow every November, makes cornbread stuffing from Grandpa's recipe, and always saves the wishbone for the youngest. Warm female vocal, acoustic guitar, pedal steel, slow tempo.
Thank-you song · Suno v6 Wild · Simple mode
Take 1, "Four Hours Through the Snow" (3:59)
Take 2, "Here's to You, Mom" (3:34)
Listening note: Both takes use a warm female voice with audible pedal steel and sing all five story details: the four-hour drive, the snow, the cornbread stuffing, Grandpa's recipe and the wishbone. The two takes have different lyrics and titles, so choose the one whose lines fit your family best; if a detail must be exact, use Custom mode with your own lyrics.
What happened with the same description on MiniMax 3.0?
We ran the same description on MiniMax 3.0 (40 credits, one song per run) to see how far a description-only song can drift:
Thank-you song · MiniMax 3.0 · Simple mode
Listening note: This one came back with a male voice instead of the requested female voice. It sings the four hours and the snow, but turns the stuffing into "cornbread in the pan", Grandpa's recipe into "Grandpa's secret way", only hints at the wishbone, and adds tea and a Christmas tree to the chorus. Use it as a sketch at most. When a detail has to be exact, write it into the lyrics in Custom mode instead of leaving it to a description.
How do I make background music for Thanksgiving dinner?
For music that plays under conversation, ask for an instrumental and say it should stay quiet. We used Google Lyria 3.5 in Simple mode with a length guide of 180 seconds:
Warm instrumental background music for a Thanksgiving dinner: relaxed acoustic jazz trio with nylon guitar, brushed drums and upright bass, cozy and unhurried, no vocals, soft enough to talk over
Dinner background · Google Lyria 3.5 · Simple mode · length guide 180 s
Listening note: The track is 3:02, has no vocals, and keeps to nylon guitar, upright bass and quiet brushed drums with plenty of room for talking. For a whole meal, put it on repeat, or generate a second track from the same description so the music changes during dessert.
How do I share the song on Thanksgiving?
- Play it at the table. Download the MP3 (no subscription needed) and play it from a phone or speaker before the meal.
- Print the chorus. Put a card with the four chorus lines at each plate so everyone can join in from the second chorus.
- Send it to people who can't come. Send them the MP3, or turn it into a lyric video; our guide to turning an AI song into a music video covers the options.
How did we test?
All examples were made on RaoMusic on October 30, 2026, with one run per setup: Suno v6 Wild in Custom mode with Duration on Auto, Suno v6 Wild in Simple mode, MiniMax 3.0 in Simple mode and Google Lyria 3.5 in Simple mode. Lengths were read from the downloaded files. The short listening note under a clip describes what that file sounds like; press play to judge for yourself.
What lyrics did we use for the singalong?
Title: "Before the Dinner Rolls Burn". Style line: "warm acoustic folk singalong, acoustic guitar, upright piano, light tambourine, family gathering, male lead vocal, group vocals on the chorus, 100 bpm".
[Verse 1]
Grandma June is at the oven door
Saying nobody touch that pie
Uncle Ray brought the folding chairs
And a story about the time he caught a fish this high
[Chorus]
Pass the plate around the table
Everybody gets a turn
Say one thing you're thankful for
Before the dinner rolls burn
[Verse 2]
Priya flew in late from Denver
Still got snow on her boots
Little Mateo counts the candles
Twelve of us and a dog named Boots
[Chorus]
Pass the plate around the table
Everybody gets a turn
Say one thing you're thankful for
Before the dinner rolls burn
[Bridge]
Somebody's missing this year
So we leave a chair by the door
We'll sing it loud enough for two
Like we always did before
[Final Chorus]
Pass the plate around the table
Everybody gets a turn
Say one thing you're thankful for
Before the dinner rolls burn
[Outro]
Before the dinner rolls burn
