To make a lullaby with AI, write a short, repetitive lyric that sings your baby's name in the chorus, paste it into Custom mode with a quiet style line (slow 3/4 time, soft voice, music box, no drums), set Variety to Off, and close the lyrics with [Outro] and [End]. Then play every take at bedtime volume and keep one that stays soft all the way through. On RaoMusic, one 30-credit Suno v6 run gave us two takes that did.

How do I write lullaby lyrics with my baby's name?
- Put the name in the chorus. A line like "Sleep, Mila, sleep" repeats every time the chorus comes back.
- Keep lines short and similar. Two short verses and a chorus sung twice are plenty for a two-minute song.
- Use calm, concrete images. The moon, stars, a window, rain. Leave out anything exciting.
- End on purpose. A one-line [Outro] and an [End] tag on its own line give the song a place to stop. RaoMusic's lyrics guide puts it this way: "[Fade Out] trails away; [End] stops clean." You can hear both compared in the guide to ending an AI song.
Here are the verse and chorus of the lyric used for the examples below (Mila is a sample name); the full lyric is at the end of this article. Swap in your baby's name, and change "Mama" and "Papa" to whoever sings at bedtime in your home. If the name comes out unclear, try spelling it the way it sounds and generate again.
[Verse]
Hush now, Mila, the moon is in the tree
Little stars are counting sheep for you and me
[Chorus]
Sleep, Mila, sleep, the night is soft and deep
Mama is here, Papa is near, close your eyes and sleep

What should the style description say?
The style line sets the sound. For a lullaby, name each of these:
- Tempo and meter: ask for a slow tempo (the example asks for 66 bpm) and "3/4 waltz" for a rocking feel.
- Voice: "soft breathy female vocal" (or male).
- Instruments: two or three gentle ones, such as music box, felt piano and low strings.
- What to leave out: "quiet and slow, no drums."
The base style line used for the sung examples (the second ElevenLabs run adds one sentence, shown with that clip): "gentle lullaby, soft breathy female vocal, music box and felt piano, warm low strings, 3/4 waltz, 66 bpm, quiet and slow, no drums."
How do I set it up on RaoMusic?
- Open Create, switch to the Custom tab and pick Suno v6 in the model menu (it needs a subscription; Suno v6 Mini and Suno v6 Wild don't).
- Paste the lyrics into Lyrics and the style line into Styles.
- Open Advanced and drag Variety all the way left to Off. Its tooltip says "Off keeps both versions strictly on-style," so both takes keep your quiet description.
- Leave Duration on Auto so the length follows your lyrics.
- Press Generate. You get two takes per run.

What do the lullabies sound like?
Same lyrics and style line, two engines:
| Version | Credits | Length | Stays soft for bedtime? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Suno v6, Variety Off (2 takes) | 30 | 2:33 and 2:02 | Yes, both |
| ElevenLabs v2, 90 s | 60 | 1:30 | No, the chorus gets loud |
| ElevenLabs v2, 90 s, "whisper-soft" added | 60 | 1:30 | No, the chorus still swells |
Suno v6 · Custom · Variety Off · Duration Auto · two takes
Listening note: Both takes keep a quiet, steady 3/4 waltz of music box, felt piano and breathy vocal, pronounce "Mila" clearly and fade out smoothly, with no drums or sudden jumps. In the first, longer take the low strings are faint, so pick the second if you want them warmer. Either one can work in a bedtime routine once you have checked the volume.
ElevenLabs v2 · Custom · Length 90 s
Listening note: "Mila" is clear and the ending is soft, but the chorus swells into a loud, belted vocal, and there is a garbled vocal sound at about 15 seconds. That is too much for putting a baby to sleep; after cutting out the loud chorus and the garbled sound, the softer verses could still work as a sentimental video cue.
ElevenLabs v2 · Custom · Length 90 s · style line plus "Whisper-soft vocal from start to finish: no belting, no build-up, the chorus stays as quiet as the verses."
Listening note: The extra instruction did not stop the chorus from lifting into a louder, soaring vocal before a gentle fade. For a sleep song, pick a take that stays soft (the Suno v6 takes above did) rather than adding more words to the style line.
Can I make a lullaby without words?
Yes, two ways. For a hummed version, keep Custom mode and write only humming syllables, with section tags:
[Humming]
Mmm, mmm, mmm
Ooh, ooh, ooh
[Humming]
Mmm, mmm, mmm
Ooh, ooh, ooh
[End]
Suno v6 · Custom · Variety Off · style: "wordless hummed lullaby, soft female humming only, music box, felt piano, 3/4, 62 bpm, hushed, no drums" · two takes, about 1:13 and 1:12
Listening note: Both takes are wordless female humming over music box and soft piano in a slow 3/4, hushed from start to finish, and both resolve into a gentle fade. Use either as is for a nap or a bedtime story.
For longer background music, turn on Instrumental. ACE-Step 1.5 lets you set the length from 10 to 600 seconds and charges by length; this 3-minute version cost 29 credits.
ACE-Step 1.5 · Simple · Instrumental · Length 180 s · Thinking on · description: "instrumental sleep lullaby for a baby: slow music box melody over soft felt piano and warm pads, 60 bpm, 3/4, very calm, no drums, no sudden changes, steady volume"
Listening note: A music box melody over warm pads and felt piano in waltz time, with no abrupt changes, fading out smoothly. It works as background sleep music. The file is noticeably quieter than the sung versions and its last 8.7 seconds are silent, so trim that silence before you set it to repeat.
How do I play it at bedtime or give it as a gift?
Download the MP3 from the song's menu; MP3 is included on any plan. If the end of a take is longer than you want, the song menu's Clip options can trim it or add a fade-out for 2 credits, saved as a new song.
Play a new lullaby once at the volume you will use in the nursery before it becomes part of the routine. A personalised lullaby also works as a baby shower present; our custom song gift guide compares it with paying a songwriter.
How loud should a lullaby be at bedtime?
Quieter than you might think. A 2014 study in Pediatrics measured 14 infant sleep machines at full volume: every one was louder than 50 dBA at 30 cm, the noise limit recommended for hospital nurseries, and all but one still went over it from 2 meters away (Hugh et al., 2014). The study measured sleep machines, not lullabies, and did not test whether they harm hearing, but its advice fits any speaker in the nursery:
- Put the phone or speaker across the room, never in the crib or on the crib rail.
- Use the lowest volume that still does the job.
- Stop playback once your baby is asleep, or use a sleep timer instead of looping it all night.
Songs also differ in loudness from file to file: the ACE-Step instrumental above is noticeably quieter than the sung versions. Check the volume again whenever you switch songs.
How did we test?
All examples were made on October 27, 2026 on RaoMusic, one run per setting: Suno v6 with the Mila lyric (Variety Off, Duration Auto), ElevenLabs v2 at 90 seconds with and without the "whisper-soft" line, Suno v6 with the humming lyric (Variety Off), and ACE-Step 1.5 instrumental at 180 seconds with Thinking on. Lengths and the silent tail were measured from the downloaded files, and credits are what our account was charged. The short listening note under a clip describes what that file sounds like; press play to judge for yourself.
What is the full lullaby lyric?
The full lyric used for the sung examples (Mila is a sample name):
[Verse]
Hush now, Mila, the moon is in the tree
Little stars are counting sheep for you and me
[Chorus]
Sleep, Mila, sleep, the night is soft and deep
Mama is here, Papa is near, close your eyes and sleep
[Verse]
Wind is softly singing through the window pane
Dreams are drifting in like a gentle summer rain
[Chorus]
Sleep, Mila, sleep, the night is soft and deep
Mama is here, Papa is near, close your eyes and sleep
[Outro]
Sleep, Mila, sleep
[End]
