Make music with AI agents
Connect RaoMusic to the AI agent you already use, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor, and ask for a song in plain words. The agent picks an engine, tells you the price, makes the track and hands you the link.
Your agent can make full songs and sound effects once RaoMusic is connected.
RaoMusic runs an MCP server, the open standard agents use to call outside tools. Connect it once: Claude and ChatGPT add it as a connector, Claude Code installs the RaoMusic plugin, Codex adds it with two commands, and you sign in with your RaoMusic account. Then just ask, for example "make a 90-second lo-fi beat for studying". The agent checks the price, asks you to confirm, generates, waits about one to two minutes and gives you the audio link. It uses your normal RaoMusic credits.
YOU: describe it and approve the price
Say what you want in your own words. Nothing is charged until you agree to the quoted credits.
THE AGENT: picks, generates and delivers
It chooses an engine and settings, starts the song, waits for it to finish and returns the download and share links.
From setup to your first song in six steps
Setup takes about a minute and only happens once. After that, every song is one message.
- 1
Open the RaoMusic plugin page and pick your agent
The plugin page has setup for Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and Gemini CLI. You can paste a ready-made message to your agent and let it do the setup, or follow the manual steps.
- 2
Connect it
Claude and ChatGPT: add RaoMusic as a custom connector with the server URL. Claude Code: run the two plugin commands. Codex: run codex mcp add, then codex mcp login. Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and Gemini CLI connect with a RaoMusic API key instead.
- 3
Sign in and click Allow
RaoMusic opens in your browser. Sign in and allow access. You can set an optional daily credit cap for this connection and disconnect it at any time from the plugin page.
- 4
Ask for a song in plain words
Describe the mood, genre, length and use, or paste your own lyrics. You can also ask for a short sound effect, such as a coin pickup or a door creak.
- 5
Confirm the price
Before generating, the agent asks RaoMusic for the exact credit cost and tells you. A Rao song costs 20 credits and gives you two versions; other engines have their own prices. Reply yes to go ahead.
- 6
Get your links, then iterate
Most songs finish in one to two minutes. The agent returns each track's title, audio link and share link. Ask for changes, like a faster tempo, a different engine or an instrumental version, and it makes a new one.
What to say to your agent
Agents work best when you describe the result you want, not the settings.
Works well
- Give the use: "background music for a 60-second product video".
- Name the mood, genre and tempo: "warm, slow acoustic folk".
- Say if it needs vocals or should be instrumental.
- Paste your own lyrics and say which style to sing them in.
- Ask for a specific engine when you have a favorite, like Google Lyria or ElevenLabs.
- Ask it to tell you the price first.
Causes problems
- Real artist names, like "sounds like Taylor Swift". The song is likely to fail. Describe the style instead.
- Pasting lyrics from a copyrighted song.
- "Make ten versions" without a budget. Each run costs credits.
- Asking it to edit an existing song. Agents can only create new songs and sound effects for now.
- Expecting it to keep files forever. Download the songs you want to keep.
Keep spending under control
An agent can act fast, so RaoMusic adds several safety checks.
Built in
- The agent is told to quote the price and wait for your yes before every generation.
- Optional daily credit cap per connection or API key. Requests over the cap are refused and nothing is charged.
- Retries are safe: if a request times out and the agent sends it again, you are not charged twice.
- Failed songs are refunded automatically.
- You can revoke a connection or key at any time and it stops working right away.
Worth doing yourself
- Set a daily cap if you let an agent run long tasks on its own.
- Keep API keys in environment variables, not in files you share or commit to git.
- Revoke keys you no longer use.
Easy to get wrong
Agent songs are not free. They use your normal RaoMusic credits at the same prices as the website.
Some engines give two songs per run. Check every track the agent lists, not just the first one.
Audio links last as long as your plan's storage period. Download anything you want to keep.
While an ElevenLabs song is still generating, its link is a temporary stream. Use the link the agent gives you once the song is done.
In Claude Code, the plugin needs a restart and a sign-in through /mcp before the tools appear.
Editing tools such as Extend, Cover, Replace Section and stem splitting are on the website, not in agents yet.
Agent vs the RaoMusic website
Both use the same engines, prices and credit balance. Pick by how you like to work.

AI agent music FAQ
Any agent that supports MCP. The plugin page has setup for Claude (desktop and claude.ai), ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and Gemini CLI.
Not for Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Codex. You sign in with your RaoMusic account in the browser. Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and Gemini CLI use an API key, which you create on the plugin page.
The same as the website. A Rao song costs 20 credits for two versions, and other engines have their own prices. The agent tells you the exact cost before it generates. There is no separate API plan.
The same ones as the website: Rao/Suno, Google Lyria, Mureka, MiniMax, ACE-Step, YuE and ElevenLabs. The agent can list them with their current prices and pick one for you, or use the one you name.
Both. Describe the song and it can write lyrics, or paste your own lyrics and a style. Real artist names and copyrighted lyrics usually make a song fail, so leave them out.
Yes. Ask for a short effect such as a whoosh, a notification chime or footsteps. Sound effects are available with the Rao and ElevenLabs engines.
Usually one to two minutes. The agent checks the status every few seconds and replies when the song is ready.
The agent is told to quote the price and wait for your approval first. For extra safety, set a daily credit cap on the connection or API key. Anything over the cap is refused without charging you.
Into your RaoMusic library, the same as songs made on the website. The agent also gives you a download link and a share link for each track.
Yes. Songs made through an agent follow the same commercial license as songs made on the website.
